Globalization and its interaction with culture and lifestyle are evident in today’s world. As a result, we see people across countries follow similar trends in clothing, food choices, marketing, and entertainment – The rise of a unified global civilization. In this essay, I will outline the perceived drawbacks of this phenomenon and explain why there are far more significant advantages.

When the difference among countries becomes insignificant, its benefits come at a price. The state of belonging to a social group with a common national or cultural tradition goes for a toss. In addition to that, it also affects the business that runs on local arts and cuisine as the global brands gain more popularity and consumer base.

We are indeed living in the age of modernization and globalization with more social and economic benefits than ever. To be competent on the world stage, especially among the developed nations, it becomes essential to understand and adopt the same lifestyle. For instance, an Indian woman wearing western clothes in the USA would be more relatable and approachable than when she wears a saree. Moreover, it will help bridge the cultural gaps between countries, promoting peace worldwide. Another significant advantage of becoming one modern society is putting an end to many stereotypes that no longer are relevant in the contemporary world as we become more and more civilized through the years.

In conclusion, a uniform culture worldwide has multiple advantages which outweigh the disadvantages. The lesser the difference between countries, the greater the harmony and growth opportunities.

Theoretically, globalization has removed geographical barriers. Culture seems to have transcended nations’ boarders due to the similarity of entertainment, marketing, and fashion that are ubiquitous all over the world. This has led to a homogeneous culture. Although there are few drawbacks, the benefits accruing from it are by no means negligible.

On the brighter side, if there is a heavy demand, people can capitalize on the affordable prices of products, since bulk production lowers the cost of manufacturing. For instance, jeans are worn by almost all age demographics. Due to the higher demand, manufacturers can produce large quantities at lower prices. Everyone can buy a pair of jeans that are not only cheaper but also of superior quality. Furthermore, this has made the lives of people convenient. An invention in western countries, when introduced in developing and under-developed countries, gives people an opportunity to use modern products. For instance, a half century ago, washing machines were primarily used in developed countries. But when it was launched in developing countries, such as India, it was a great success, and currently, it is a necessity for every household. Everyone having typical consumer goods and products does not mean that people are imitating each other. These consumption patterns are created out of necessity and practical usage.

However, the downsides should not be ignored. Firstly, in today’s global village, with the recent popularity of online streaming video platforms such as Netflix and YouTube, people are exposed to the same kind of content. Thus, everyone develops a mindset and way of thinking akin to each other. Violence and crime are salient illustrations depicted in such movies, so there has been a change in people’s behavior, which has resulted in aggressiveness and an increase in criminal activity. Secondly, people’s dressing has been more influenced by western culture, and they are eschewing traditional wear in favour of western clothes. It is normal to see people wearing t-shirts and jeans, whether in India or America. This changeover has resulted in a decline in cultural ideologies and values, especially in younger generations.

To conclude, although there is a fear that the world will turn into a monoculture, the merits engendered from vast marketing, similar media, and fashion oughtweigh the demerits. People should, nonetheless, strike a balance in order to assimilate between their culture and international culture without losing sight of their roots.

Due to the advancement of technology, the world has become one big place. People are viewing the same shows, they are using the same social media sites, and they have the same sense of fashion. There are some benefits and drawbacks to this trend, and I will explain why I believe the benefits far outweigh the negatives.
Nowadays, people from all over the world are more similar to each other than ever before. There are plethora of advantages to this. Firstly, people will understand each other more. They are more aware of other cultures, thanks to the diversity of actors on the tv shows, people are able to see the cultures and habits of TV stars on the other side of the world. In addition, regardless of where people live in the world, they will begin to have similar views. Because they have the same idols that they love and imitate, they will start to become more alike, and eventually have similar views. This will reduce the conflict globally.
However, there are some disadvantages to this phenomenon. Before, countries had unique identity and culture. People would enjoy travelling because they would be fascinated by the different cultures and habits. They would try new cuisines and explore the unique architecture. However, this is no longer the case, now majority of European countries speak English, eat cheese burgers and the public wears the same brands. The special identity is lost. I think in the near future this may cause identity crises in the upcoming generations.
In conclusion, although there are some disadvantages to the world becoming one homogenous place, I think the benefits overshadow the negatives. This way, the conflict between countries will decrease.
