Various reasons have doubled the backlog figures in Canadian immigration over the past year.
The lockdown caused by the pandemic aggravated this situation. As a result, the numbers of the backlog has nearly tripled since the beginning of the pandemic.
The figure stands at around 2.7 million people, which depicts growth of nearly 300,000 people over the past six weeks.

July 6, 2021: 1,447,474 "
However, 51,616 Express Entry applicants are waiting on decisions as of July 17, which is less than March 15. It means IRCC can once again hold all program draws.
