Imagine your essay as a tree. Breadth has many branches (ideas), but depth has strong, deep roots (well-developed arguments).

The key to a high-scoring essay is striking the perfect balance.
Too much breadth? Your ideas may lack substance.
Too little? Your essay might feel repetitive.

For instance, instead of saying "Pollution is a major issue," you could write: "Air pollution contributes to over 4 million premature deaths annually (WHO, 2022)."

One more example for good measure.
