Confused about Distractors while Listening? We got you!
What is a Distractor?

It is common in IELTS Listening to find a speaker giving some wrong information,
then correcting himself and giving us the right information.

This little trick is called a “Distraction.”

Focus on words like,

sorry, you have mistaken, my apologies, my bad,
pardon me
etc.,

this will help you reach the perfect answer!

Example:

So, What do you think is the Distractor here?

Woman:
Ok, that’s fine. I’ll just need to take some details from you to confirm the booking. Can you give me your full name?

Man: Yes, it’s Michael Fernsby.

Woman: Is that Michael
F-E-R-N-E-S-B-Y ?

Man: Oh, You've mistaken, it’s F-E-R-N-S-B-Y.

The Answer:

Woman: Is that Michael
F-E-R-N-E-S-B-Y ?

Man: Oh You’ve mistaken, it’s F-E-R-N-S-B-Y.
