Grammar for IELTS: Modifiers

Struggling to learn about basic grammar for IELTS? Let’s start your learning journey with modifiers here!
What are Modifiers?

Modifiers are words that add more information to other words in a sentence.

Moreover, they make sentences clearer and more detailed💯

There are 2 main types of Modifiers. They are:

1. Adjectives
2. Adverbs

Now let’s look at them in detail!🤩

Adjectives

They describe nouns or pronouns, telling us what kind or which one is it.

For example, in the phrase "the blue car," "blue" is the adjective.

Adverbs

Adverbs describe verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. They tell us how, when, where, or to what extent something happens.

For instance, in the sentence, "He ran quickly," "quickly" is the adverb.

Where to Put Modifiers?

It's important to put modifiers close to the words they describe to avoid confusion. If they're in the wrong place, the sentence might not make sense.
