As Listening is generally considered to be the easiest of all four of the IELTS, many tend to become overconfident and ignore it during preparation.

The term "connected speech" refers to language that is spoken in continuous succession, as in normal conversation.

Unlike writing, connected speech attaches words and syllables, combines sentences, and stresses words differently.

Some processes will help you understand connected speech more clearly, like assimilation, elision, catenation, intrusion, etc.

Connected speech can be explained best by practising listening to conversations at high and low speeds and jotting down words that appear unclear.
