Are your sentences incomplete and you need ways to solve them? This story is just for that.
In simple terms, fragmented sentences are incomplete sentences.
E.g. - Tea or Coffee?
1. Sentence missing a subject or predicate (or both)
E.g. - a) Going soon
b) The best husband of all
c) Oh my god!
There are 3 types of sentence fragments.
2. Sentence where the transitive verb is without a direct object
E.g. - She lives.
3. Subordinate clause without an independent clause
E.g. - When the time was time.
But how do we fix these fragments?
Well, there are three easy ways.
After you identify what is missing in the sentence - subject/predicate/direct object/independent clause - add it to the sentence to make complete sense.
A) Add the missing part.
You can change the punctuation and reframe your sentence so that all the necessary elements are present.
B) Reframe your sentence
Instead of 'She felt lonely. As she had no one.', you can write, 'She felt lonely as she had no one.'
