Difference between IELTS Academic and IELTS General

Article writing for IELTS Academic
The Writing Task 1 for IELTS Academic is an article based on a graph, chart, table, or diagram.
Letter Writing for IELTS General
In IELTS General, Writing Task 1, the candidate is asked to write a letter based on the formal, semi-formal, or informal tone of the question.
Writing Task 2 remains the same
A point to note is that Writing Task 2 for both IELTS Academic and General is the same, which is essay writing. However, the range of topics may differ.
Is the length different or the same?
While in IELTS Academic, 3 equally long passages are provided, along with questions, in IELTS General, the length and difficulty increase in ascending order.
Student-centric or Work -related
The topics for IELTS General vary from work-related to general issues and the ones for Academic are for students at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.
Difference in Evaluation for Reading
If the candidate scores 30 out of 40, in Academic, it corresponds to band 6, while in General, it means band 5.
