Who can become a sponsor under the Family sponsorship program?

You must be a Canadian citizen, a person registered as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act, or a permanent resident over the age of 18 to sponsor your family for Canadian immigration through the Family sponsorship program.

What is a sponsorship agreement?

A sponsorship agreement must be signed by both the sponsor and the sponsored relative. This agreement will show that you are willing to help your relative financially if it is required. It also states that relatives who become permanent residents would make every attempt to sustain themselves

How long do I have to financially support the family member or relative I'm sponsoring?

Once Canadian immigration authorities approve their sponsorship, you must offer financial assistance. For a spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner, you are required to provide financial assistance for 3 years and for a dependent kid must be supplied for 10 years or until the child reaches the age of 25, whichever comes first.

What is AOR?

The Acknowledgement of Receipt, or AOR, is an IRCC confirmation letter. This letter certifies that IRCC received your application on the specified date.

How is family size calculated in immigration applications?

You must count yourself, your spouse, your dependent children, the number of individuals you're sponsoring, and all of their dependent family members when determining your family size.
