Frequently Asked Questions

Is it possible for anyone to study in the UK without IELTS?

Yes, it is possible to study in UK universities without IELTS as there are a multitude of universities in the country where a candidate can apply without language proficiency scores. These universities include Swansea University, Birmingham City University, Robert Gordon University, University of Bristol, amongst others.

If not IELTS, what do UK Universities ask for?

The UK universities may look for the candidate's medium of instruction from the previous education, which is valid proof. Some universities may ask the candidates to appear for an online interview so that the university can detect the English language level of the candidate directly. Scores secured in high school or senior year may also be taken into consideration to check the English language scores. Apart from this, some universities may not ask the test takers for IELTS scores but to write a separate exam to prove their English language proficiency.

What role do English language requirements play in procuring a Tier 4 VISA?

To procure a Tier 4 or General Visa, a candidate must get 40 points out of which 30 points are reserved for the Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a Tier 4 sponsor. The sponsor cannot issue the CAS without confirming that the candidate has met the English language proficiency requirements.

Can I get a UK study visa without IELTS?

Yes, Although English language proficiency is one of the most important requirements, there's an alternative option if you choose to study at a university that waives off IELTS. The candidates are required to submit a document from the university stating that they're eligible to apply for a visa instead of submitting the IELTS score.

Who is eligible for the short-term UK study visa?

The short-term visa will allow the students to study in the UK for 6 months or 11 months, depending upon the course. Students are eligible for the short term study visa only if they have been accepted for a short-term course such as an English language course or training course in the UK. Also, there's no extension for the short-term visa
