Canada Express Entry Processing Time

However, some people get their applicants approved quickly, while others wait longer. This is due to the fact that the processing time for Express Entry applications differs from one application to the next, based on a variety of factors.

Express Entry 

Express Entry is an online immigration system that administers applications for permanent residence in Canada from skilled workers under federal and provincial economic initiatives. All Express Entry applications are processed using Canada’s point-based system. All the FSW and FST applications need to score 67 points out of 100 to be eligible for the Express Entry program. CEC does not have its own point system. It uses the CRS point system directly.

CRS point system

The CRS point system is used to determine the score of all applications, regardless of the program they had been applied for, to enter the Express Entry draw. The maximum score in the CRS point system is 1200.

How long does it take to complete an Express Entry process?

The entire Express Entry process might take anywhere between 6 and 12 months on average. The processing time begins when IRCC receives the application and concludes when a decision is reached. Your Express Entry profile has 60 days to be completed and submitted. You’ll have to start over if you are not able to complete it on time. However, an Express Entry profile is valid for 1 year only. You may submit your profile online once you’ve completed it.

How long does it take to transition out of the CRS pool and obtain an ITA?

If your application is ranked high, you can anticipate receiving an ITA in a couple of days to a few weeks. However, your profile will stay active in the Express Entry pool for 12 months if you are not picked straight away.

After you submit your Express Entry application, what messages do you receive?

After completing your application online, you will be sent to a confirmation page, which will let you know that it has been received. The IRCC will also send you an email requesting you to look for a confirmation message in your online account.

Post ITA processing time 

Applicants have 60 days from the time they obtain their ITA to file their application for permanent residency. In addition, they must submit information such as medical clearance, police verification certificates, and proof of financial assistance. Express Entry applications typically take 6 months to process from AOR to PPR once the ITAs are submitted.

Receiving your Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR)

You will receive an Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR) after submitting your electronic Application for Permanent Residence (e-APR), which confirms that Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has received your application for permanent residence in Canada and has created a file with your application number. The electronic Application for Permanent Residence, or e-APR, is a web-based application for permanent residency. If you have applied for the Express Entry program online, it simply means that you have submitted an eAPR.

If your nation of residency changes after you submit your application, you must notify IRCC using a portal. If you claimed points for a job in your application but no longer hold it after submission, let IRCC know so they can verify your employment. Employment verification is done at the eligibility review phase, and if any of the facts are found to be forged, the application will be rejected.

R10

R10 or section 10 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations is the next step followed by IRCC for complete application checks. This level assists officials in determining whether or not the appropriate papers have been submitted. Your application will be denied if any of the papers are missing or incomplete. In addition, your IELTS and ECA are checked as part of the R-10 evaluation to ensure that they are genuine. This step takes 7-100 days to process.

Not Applicable (NA1)

This stage is called Not applicable status. As soon as your R10 is cleared, your background check status messages will reflect NA1. Until you receive your medical status, this status will show in your application.

Medical passed (MEP)

The following step is evaluating the medical results, which is commonly referred to as Medical passed or MEP. This procedure might take anything from 7 days to a month to complete. Applicants are notified on the site when their application has been completed, saying they have passed the medical test.

In Progress (IP1) 

Your background check part will change to “your application is in progress” the same day, one or two days following the MEP update. This phase includes criminality checks. All PCCs are verified for validity against their appropriate stay periods and with the issuing authorities.

Not Applicable (NA2)

Your “background check section will revert to” Not Applicable” after your IP1 is complete. IP1 takes only a few hours most of the time, and if you don’t check your account during that time, you’ll miss the update. Your information will be sent to the CPC/LVO (case processing center), where agents will examine your eligibility.

In Progress (IP2)

The status notice for the background check will change to “We are processing your background check.” If the authorities require further information, they will send you a message. If the applicant has previously paid the Right of Permanent Residence Fees in advance, the Passport Request (PPR) is sent through email when the IP2 step is completed. After the IP2 stage, PPR emails take anywhere from 1 to 40 days.

Not Applicable (NA3)

This indicates that NA3 is complete. However, the background check status is not visible in certain situations, and PPR is processed while the NA3 status is still visible.

Passport Request (PPR)

You will receive an email straight to your email address, and your Express Entry account may or may not receive an update. On the CIC account, there will be no changes. For all accompanying applicants, you must provide two passport-size pictures, a copy of the PPR email, a passport, and a letter detailing the applicant’s height and eye colour within 30 days, as per CIC regulations.

Confirmation of Permanent Residence (CoPR)

Applicants should cross-check their email folders, as the email sometimes does not come from IRCC but from your country’s embassy.
