Band 7 Sample Answer For Writing Task 2 Question – Television is a Very Useful Tool When it Comes to Education
Some argue that watching television is a waste of time and inappropriate for students, whereas others believe it is a valuable tool for learning. I partially agree with the notion that television is useful for education, and this essay will talk about both cases with proper examples.
On the one hand, televisions offer a wide range of information and visual content, serving as an educational tool for learners. Moreover, this device not only gives them information about everything they need to know but also gives them a visual experience that can assist them to understand things more clearly. For example, in the United States, teens in high school watch YouTube videos to learn the day’s subject more clearly. This indicates that Visual knowledge is also more beneficial for the learners.
On the other hand, if not used limitedly, this can also result in a curse and consume much of one’s valuable time. Adding on to this, there are many unnecessary entertainment programs, such as non-educational dramas that might seem interesting but if watched over time, might become an unhealthy obsession. For instance, some home-makers watch dramas for entertainment, spending hours without realizing the value of time. This may hinder their routine work and delay the process of the work getting done.
In conclusion, while some misuse televisions, those who use them wisely can experience transformative benefits as a result. Hence, I believe that it is a valuable tool for this current generation if used effectively and not only for entertainment purposes.

Band 8 Sample Answer For Writing Task 2 Question – Television is a Very Useful Tool When it Comes to Education
Certain individuals think that television is one of the most useful and helpful ways to be involved in a person’s education, others disagree that it is an ineffective method of teaching. I disagree that the usage of TV is a good way of learning and will be discussing both viewpoints with proper examples in the essay.
To begin with, television is considered as an entertainment factor that many are interested in watching during their leisure time. This makes the television an ineffective tool when it comes to education since there are many distractions that the person can barely focus on their objectives. When watching an educative program, there are high chance that it might contain some commercial ads that can be distracting. Additionally, learners will have no choice but to accept all the information being aired on TV since there won’t be any possibility to interact with a proper tutor or ask queries in case something is unclear.
Moreover, learning with the help of television may cause more problems since some programs, can negatively affect students by influencing their mental and physical well-being. For instance, Mystery Solvers, this program highlights the crime and how it is solved. Some learners might get influenced by the show and expect a thrill in life to try to solve the mystery by jumping into fieldwork. This imitation can extend to society, posing a broader concern. One another thing when contrasted with teachers and books, educational resources on television are limited due to the prevalence of entertainment programs, often accompanied by advertisements.
To conclude, as some individuals believe that television isn’t the right device that serve educational purposes, I indeed support that the screens can easily divert the learner from their goal and can hamper the learning journey.
