When Christopher Nolan released Interstellar in 2014, it became one of his greatest and most impressive films. His capability to captivate and perplex the audience became difficult to match. However, I never considered viewing this film for some reason, probably because I assumed it was merely another over-hyped Hollywood movie.

One day, I was alone at home and decided to watch a movie and came across this movie on Netflix. After watching, I was baffled by the storyline and intriguing plotline. Only a handful of directors in the world have the ability to capture human emotions while also manipulating your mind and your sheer comprehension capacity of a film before shattering it. And Christopher Nolan is a master at it.

I liked the movie because it captures the actual essence of science fiction. Fiction is something that is based on facts. And Interstellar is almost totally based on facts. They go into great detail with the scientific words they utilize. It’s just really long. To comprehend the whole concept and really look at the depth of the concept and finally understand the depth is difficult. After finishing the whole film, a question lingers in my mind, “how did they think of every little thing?” I mean that the details are so clear and so complex.

The Nolan Brothers used quantum physics’ most enigmatic notions to create a great and plausible narrative. I loved how the actors portrayed their roles, and more so, the outstanding shooting and hypnotic sound effects enhanced the plot’s integrity and thrill.

I am not a huge movie buff. However, when I have nothing to watch, I turn to movies. It is extremely difficult for me to watch a movie till the end. This is because if I didn’t like the beginning, I’d never complete watching it. So, it’s important for me to have that hooking factor since the beginning. Anyway, I lately watched – The Walk on Netflix.

A few weeks back, I was unable to sleep at night. So, just to pass some time, I started scrolling through options on Netflix. That’s when I stumbled upon this movie.

The movie is based on the real life of Philippe Petit – a wire walker. He performs daring feats for dazzled people. With the guidance of Papa Rudy – his mentor and a French daredevil – he devises a full-proof plan to walk on a rope attached to the south and north towers of the World Trade Center. He forms a reliable team to fulfill this nerve-wrenching mission. With the help of his team and going against all odds, Petit attempts the impossible and stunning walk without any harness.

I liked every bit of this movie, from the beginning till the end. It sparks fear and motivation in you. If you have a mission in life, you must be willing to sacrifice everything to achieve it. I especially liked the end of the movie when he finally managed to not just walk but do varying stunts on the rope without any support.

Since the time I realized that I was a movie buff and a fanatic, I never really found myself eager enough to watch anything in a foreign language. However, lately, I had a lot of people recommending Das Boot (The Boat) to me. Since I was compelled to the core, I had to give in and begin this movie. 

It is a German movie that I watched last Saturday. This is one such movie that is based on real events from World War II. This was another reason, besides the non-ending compulsion, to give it a go. Needless to explain, I thoroughly enjoyed every part of the movie, right from the start to finish.

If diving into the details of the movie, originally, Das Boot was released in 1981. This German war movie was written and directed by Wolfgang Petersen. It is based on the appalling events of the second world war and talks about the incidents and activities of the German submarine  “U-96” and its crew, as they step towards a hazardous patrol in the Battle of the Atlantic. 

The movie delineates the tedium of the fruitless hunt and the excitement of battle. It also depicts men serving aboard U-boats as mere regular people with a passion to put their best foot forward for their comrades and their country. In this masterpiece, you can find a variety of legends, such as Martin Semmelrogge, Hubertus Bengsch, Klaus Wennermann, Herbert Gronemeyer, Jurgen Prochnow, and many others. 

What intrigued me the most about this movie was the realistic portrayal of the daily struggles of soldiers to stay motivated.
