Swimming is, undoubtedly, a good exercise and integral for maintaining good health. Apart from other forms of exercise, I prefer swimming more as it keeps me active for a longer time period. Thus, I periodically visit the local swimming club near my locality, and I can reach there within a few minutes by walking. The name of the club is “ActiveSwimmers”. The club also comes up with special facilities for swimmers. So, I’d like to share more about it here.

This one is a public pool and is situated outdoor. It offers almost every needed facility for local swimmers. However, there are certain rules and regulations that everybody has to follow when swimming in this pool. Other than that, it is extremely spacious. The place remains crowded throughout the day. It also has changing rooms and showers, different for boys and girls.

So, I usually visit this pool at different times of the day. A notable number of people use the swimming pool regularly, and this remains crowded round the day. The changing rooms and showers also appear admiring to me.

There are several reasons why this pool is my favourite. To begin with, it can easily accommodate plenty of people at once. So, I get my own space to swim without any interference from others. Moreover, using this pool is highly affordable than others available in my city. And then, since it is nearest to my house, I don’t have to use a vehicle or public transport to reach there. In addition to this, the pool is open 24/7. So, I can visit whenever I get time.

There are many swimming spots in my city, but the place that I like the most is the Kolkata swimming club in Behala. Swimming is a very good exercise to maintain our body weight and keep fit.

Kolkata swimming club is very friendly and attractive to go swimming every day. The pool is situated between lush green trees. There are lots of facilities in the swimming pool. Not more than ten people can visit this pool for swimming. Every day the wastewater of the pool is cleaned and refilled with crystal clear water. The changing room and shower facility are very admirable. The club is within walking distance from my house. The pool is never crowded and remains clean and tidy. Additionally, it is spacious with a swimming area for regular practice, a pool for public use, a pool for the competition.

Since I go to school, I choose the morning schedule to practise swimming. Sometimes I go swimming with my father or my elder brother. There are lots of terms and conditions that I have to follow. Every day I get motivated by a 60-year-old lady who comes to practise swimming and calls for a mini race. Mostly she wins, and I lose the game. But I don’t have any regrets about learning from a professional swimmer who is 60 yrs old. She has great knowledge about swimming and gives guidelines and training for better movements in the water.

Although I am not a Pisces, I love water more than my own Zodiac element. Unfortunately, I was not allowed to learn swimming due to a family mishap. So, I did not get a fair chance to learn to swim. However, I remember one incident related to swimming when I visited my village. There were a number of ponds and my favourite was named “Pathor Dighi”, roughly translated to “Rock Pond”. 

The huge pool of water had the perfect setting with tall mango trees all around. The shade from the trees made the water cool and soothing to the heated skin in summer, but it was mostly left alone in winter. The water was clear until lately, people began to wash clothes on its side. Fortunately, my grandparents had prevented it and restored it with the help of some people. During autumn, lotus blooms enhance the magnificence of the area. Although I never swam in the waters, I used to sit on the last step of the cemented stairs and dip half of my body while my friends played in the water. 

Its been a long time since I have visited the village. The large pond was the most favourite place in the whole village. Whenever I returned to my village, mostly during the summer vacation, I used to spend the afternoon in the shade of the trees and relish tasty mangoes. A huge part of the happy memories in my life till now is around that water body and I miss it very much.
