Sample Answer 1
- Why do they give you the surprise?
Who wouldn’t be in awe of a well-planned and adequately executed surprise? I love pleasant surprises as it showcases that somebody is putting effort into making us happy. So, on my last birthday, I received a lovely surprise that left me awestruck.
- When and where did it happen?
The time was 12 am, and I was scrolling through Instagram, trying to kill time while wrapped up in my blanket in my room. Suddenly, I heard hush-hush sounds just outside my room’s door. To tell you the truth, I had anticipated something from my family. However, the reality was completely unknown to me.
- Who gave you the surprise?
When they turned the doorknob, I shut my eyes, pretending to be fast asleep. After a minute or so, I heard my parents and sister singing Happy Birthday unanimously. When I opened my eyes to comprehend the things they were carrying, I was enthralled.
Each one of them had a bouquet in hand. Along with that, my father was carrying my favorite red velvet cake. All of them gave me a tight, blissful hug, and I cut the cake. Post that, my sister gifted me a little basket that had a cute Labrador puppy. This was the best possible gift as I always wanted to have a puppy.
- And explain how you felt about it.
I was extremely overwhelmed with this gift and had tears of joy running down my cheeks while the puppy licked them off, wishing me the happiest birthday in its own way.
Sample Answer 2
- When and where did it happen?
- Why do they give you the surprise?
For my last birthday, I was given a pleasant surprise by my boyfriend. At that time, I was on a business trip to Venice. Thus, I had expected that I would have a boring birthday without my beloved friends and family. That expectation made me feel so empty and depressed for a while. To brighten my mood, I took a day off to go around the city alone.
- Who gave you the surprise?
On my birthday, I woke up at 7 a.m but stayed in bed until 8 a.m when I received a call from my boyfriend. I’d thought that he’d call to wish me my birthday. Though I was fully aware of that fact, to be honest, I felt a bit hurt. But it turned out to be a great surprise for him because he took the early morning flight to get to my place at the beginning of the day. I was deliriously happy that I immediately jumped out of the bed. By the moment I opened the door of my hotel room, I could see a lovely man with flowers in his hands and a bright smile on his face. He gave me a warm hug that I melted in. Then, we spent a day together exploring the city and enjoying a special cuisine there.
- And explain how you felt about it.
I was over the moon when I saw him. Until now, it is still the most pleasant surprise I have ever had, which reminds me to appreciate his efforts to make me happy and to make me remain deeply in love with him.
