Aside from the PTE, the IELTS or International English Language Testing System is the most widely used standardized English proficiency exam. Both of these evaluate a non-native speaker’s English language proficiency.
For student applications and visa processing, universities, professional organizations, and other establishments will accept any of the legitimate tests. Each exam score, however, is assigned on a different scale. As a result, many candidates need clarification about how to convert a PTE score to an IELTS score and the corresponding scores. So, in this article, we will discuss the corresponding scores of IELTS and PTE, for example, how much is IELTS band 8 in PTE.
IELTS – PTE Concordance
PTE Academic assigns a score from 10-90 on the Global Scale of English, allowing you to precisely assess your English skills. Meanwhile, IELTS results are given on a 9-point scale. They are intended to be simple and easy to understand, with 1 being the lowest and 9 being the highest.
In the PTE score report, a person’s performance is graded on two criteria: communicative skills and enabling skills. It can be challenging to assess the results of various tests. This is because test designs, features, and formats differ. Furthermore, it becomes more tricky because of the differences that exist between the various tests. Nonetheless, students are commonly curious about how the results of two different tests compare.
Thus, in order to compare PTE Scores with IELTS Scores, Pearson Corporation conducted extensive research and published the Concordance Report in 2020. Consequently, the Concordance report’s goal is to meet these requirements and publish data so that universities can update their score needs clearly. This also means that students who have only taken one of these tests can compare their results using the concordance report table.
What PTE Score is needed for the 8 IELTS Band?
