Sample Answer 1
- the topic of this project or homework
- when and where you did this project
I wasn’t very fond of working on a project during high school. But, I had no other options back then except to work on those projects to get good scores. The project I want to discuss was creating an advertising campaign to sell a product, which could be anything from a popular snack item to an expensive electronic device, in my 10th grade.
- what research or preparation you did
- how difficult this task was
- how much time you spent on this project or assignment
Fortunately, I was allowed to work with a few other classmates of mine. We were expected to finish the project within two weeks, and I thought it was a reasonable amount of time to do so. However, when we commenced working on the projects, it took us about a few days to argue and develop a plan for a relevant product. We eventually decided that we would create a promotion campaign for selling “lemon juice”. So, we all began finding information on lemons’ health benefits. We kept the lemon juices at different temperatures to uncover their authentic taste. We felt that the more information we had about lemon juice, the easier it would get for us to create an efficacious advertising campaign. Eventually, once we decided what specific taste of the lemon juice we would try to highlight in our promotion campaign, it didn’t take us more than ten days to finish creating the campaign. Although it was challenging to finish the project, our team spirit and cooperation helped us complete it on time.
- and explain what you learned from this experience.
Anyway, I learned several things from working on this particular project. The first thing that I learned was that we all would need to put in the effort to listen to our legitimate arguments, even if they sound illogical, to keep a team spirit alive. Secondly, I also learned that the oratory skills of a person, or how they choose to play with words, can have a colossal impact on how other people around us regard us.

I would like to share with you a project I was involved in when I was a second year student in the university. I was applying for an organization for young and gifted students. To be admitted into that organization, I had to join a contest, which required us to work in team, do research and make a business plan for a start-up on our own in 2 weeks. Each team was provided 2 mentors for supporting and observing.
- what research or preparation you did
- how difficult this task was
- how much time you spent on this project or assignment
As we were all young, and mostly inexperienced, we had to learn from tiny things like the plan format, how to conduct research, which information is needed. To my view, there were too many things for a 4-member-team like us to learn in such short period of time. However, because the fact of being a member of that organization was so desireable to us, we had no choice but to try our best.
First, we had to organize our team well enough. We conducted a serious domestic talk, then, I was nominated as team leader. Then, we short listed some possible business type and products. After finalizing business on hand made products, I allocated tasks to each member of the team, one was responsible for market research, one worked for existing or potential competitors, one for operation plan and I was in charge of product research. We had to do all of those things in one week, and one week left was for revising and developing new ideas from that plan.
To be honest, it was quite tough task as that was our first time making a serious business plan. We had to look for a lot information, conducted questionnaire for customer’s need, chose the right product for targeted market segment. However, all of us were so happy with this project as we had good co-operation. As a reward for the efforts we had put into it, our team won the first prize and all of our team members managed to become a member of that organization.
- and explain what you learned from this experience.
Apart from the first prize we had, we also learnt a lot from this project, like how to conduct research, how to organize a business plan. Besides, this project also helped me to realize my hidden potential, contributing to my career orientation after that.
