Sample Answer 1
I am a homebody who would rather stay at home than go outside. However, there are times when I long for a change of scenery and want to go somewhere that stimulates my mind. On those occasions, it is only fitting that I end up finding my way to the library.
The library I frequent is situated right in the heart of the city, nearly an hour or so away from where I live. I have been a member there since my childhood and it has become a place of comfort and familiarity for me almost a decade later. To arrive at the library, I walk down to the main road from my house and board an auto to reach the nearest metro station. It takes me around thirty minutes to reach my stop on the metro from where the library is a stone’s throw away.
The library has undergone quite a few renovations from my early days as a member. Nowadays, as you enter, you are greeted by the customer service desk right in front of you, to the left of which there is a small café within the library. Thanks to the café, a fragrant aroma of coffee beans roasting always permeates the library and creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere. To the right of the customer service desk, there are two conference rooms with big glass doors where a lot of events and courses are held.
Walking straight ahead, one starts to encounter the shelves, which are laden with books of different genres. I take my time to peruse through the shelves, pulling out titles or authors that catch my eye. I wander through the various shelves, flitting from one genre to another and before I know it, my arms are overflowing with books I can barely bring myself to carry. There is also a series of computers on the far left of the room, which members use to access the online library or use the internet. In the centre of the room, there is a space filled with beanbags, and comfortable pouffe seats, allowing the members to make themselves right at home when reading. There are also a series of plastic chairs and glass tables towards the front where people can sit and work if they so desire.
Visiting the library fills me with happiness as it gives me an opportunity to discover books. I always enjoy relaxing with a book and a cinnamon tea at the library café and it allows me to catch a break from the pressures of daily life.
Sample Answer 2
I’m the type of person who likes to travel from one place to another as I don’t like being stuck in a rut. But there’s this one place I often go to and don’t fail to visit even if I’m occupied.
Whenever I’m tired of the hustle and bustle of city life, I try to find my solace in an orphanage, located on the outskirts of the coastal city. I’ve always been fond of volunteering, as it gave me a sense of self-satisfaction, so I started volunteering for the needy children at the orphanage. The only way to reach the orphanage is through bus because only the buses ply on the bridge that connects the route; after that, I have to walk a mile to get to the orphanage from the bus stop. The orphanage is a two-storey building with a vast terrace and huge lawn at the front.
Although it is well maintained by the staff, it resembles an old house with the paint being worn off and the walls being cracked. Even the inner living rooms had dimly lit ceiling lights and slow-moving fans with only two-three bunk beds and mattresses piled up against the wall. Truth to be told, the place was in a really poor shape and looked shabby.
However, I enjoy visiting this orphanage because it allows me to feel as though I am making a difference in the lives of the children. These kids are stress busters and mood enhancers. I enjoy interacting with these children and creating lifelong memories with them. It helps me take a break from my daily routine to gain a renewed perspective about life.
