In some nations, it is contended that the governing authorities prioritise economic growth compared to the other concerns. While the main benefit of this approach is better living standards, I believe that it can affect the health and education of the general public.
There are three key reasons why countries see economic growth as a rudimentary goal. To start with, a healthy economy results in job creation, a high level of employment, and better wages for all citizens. Secondly, economic progress secures that more money is accessible for governments to spend on infrastructure and public services. To illustrate, a government with higher revenues can invest in its transport network, education system, and hospitals. Assuredly, a strong economy can help a country’s standing on the global stage regarding its political influence and trading power.
However, economic growth alone will not suffice. Health and education are equally important. The major drawback of prioritising economic growth is harming the environment. China, for example, is expanding, but at the expense of the domain. The air quality in China is perhaps the lowest in the world. Fast-growing Indian cities are no different. While economic growth is good, resulting pollution can affect people’s health. It can also destroy wildlife. Another issue is that culture and morality may hit when nations try too hard to grow financially.
In conclusion, the economy is a crucial marker of a country’s success, but social, environmental, and health criteria are equally significant.
