Sample Essay 1
Recently it has been observed that the quantity of waste has increased across the countries, owing to population growth and urbanization. Landfills are places for dumping trash, garbage, and other solid wastes. However, most communities leave landfills unattended, resulting in land degradation and an uncontrolled buildup of various solid waste materials. In the forthcoming paragraphs, I shall discuss the causes of the increase in waste and provide waste management solutions.
The pace of trash creation is increasing at an alarming rate as humanity moves toward urbanization. In addition, organizations such as restaurants and factories contribute to the overall amount of trash accumulated. During the covid-19 pandemic, for example, disposable goods like gloves, masks, and gowns increased. The government’s inappropriate waste disposal management techniques aggravated the problem. The manufacturing industry and construction activities account for half of the waste. Today, waste is also generated as a result of society’s attempt to solve other environmental issues.
However, a variety of measures may be undertaken to protect the environment. Construction of modern landfills with well-engineered and managed waste disposal facilities can considerably decrease trash’s negative impact. Moreover, everyone should encourage the value of recycling, reducing, and reusing. Rather than being extravagant on new items, consumers could buy ecologically beneficial recycled goods. People can cut down on their consumption of items manufactured of plastic.
Overall, overpopulation and urbanization have resulted in a rise in garbage generation. However, by implementing efficient methods such as recycling, decreasing, and reusing garbage, the problem of rising waste can be alleviated.
Sample Essay 2
Of late, humans have been producing an enormous amount of garbage through both industrial and domestic methods. There are plenty of causes for the proliferation of rubbish in the present era. This essay is delving into the causes and remedial actions that can be taken to subdue this acute issue of debris.
To start with, a rapid growth of garbage is linked to the overwhelming number of people residing on the planet earth. To explain better, with an upsurge in the number of people, the number of products they consume also increases. In turn, this inflates the production of waste. On top of that, to meet the rising demands, newer industries have been setting up consistently, aggravating the situation even more. Additionally, modern life is also practising a throw-away culture. People are not much interested in using repaired stuff. Rather, they dispose old products to buy new ones.
There are several steps that the government can take to alleviate this situation. For example, considering that plastic makes up to 70% of the garbage hoard, a lot of authorities have banned polythene use. The other steps may include governments taking stricter ordinance to evaluate waste produced by industries. Moreover, they can also take the initiative to encourage people to keep the surroundings clean.
To recapitulate, the increase in population is the main factor for the upsurge in littler. Another significant factor is the encouragement of the throw-away culture. The government can take measures to fight against this problem. Some of the solutions could be eco-friendly products, applying stringent policies on factories and encouraging residents to keep the areas clean.
Band 9 Sample Essay
One of the hallmarks of the 21st century is the appalling conditions of the human habitat. In the past few decades, humanity has exploited and abused nature to an almost irreparable degree. The root cause of such atrocious circumstances is the surging amounts of waste produced across the globe. In the following paragraphs, I will explore the reasons behind the rising quantity of junk and possible solutions to solve this issue.
The skyrocketing volume of garbage produced is an outcome of several global adversities. The genesis of this predicament can be traced back to the crisis of overpopulation that is prevalent today. The increasing number of inhabitants across various countries, especially third-world nations, is a prime source of such enormous quantities of garbage. Moreover, due to the absence of sophisticated waste disposal and treatment facilities in these countries, discarding trash becomes complicated, having a detrimental impact on the environment. Furthermore, the rising population also leads to an increase in demand for consumer products and the manufacturing of such commodities. This facilitates the production of toxic waste by several industries owing to an upswing in factory operations.
Nevertheless, there are avenues available to ameliorate this plight suffered by humankind. Firstly, governments of nations where the production of scrap material is the highest have to make stringent alterations in administrative policies. Laws have to be implemented that curb the improper disposal of trash by the public. Imposing hefty penalties as monetary compensation or community work has to be introduced to reduce practices like littering. Additionally, the carbon footprint and non-biodegradable waste produced by major corporations have to be regulated. Also, environment-friendly measures have to be taken by such organizations regularly to indemnify the ruinous effect of their operations.
Finally, the damage that has already been done to nature by the actions of the human race is irreversible. Regardless, we must take a stand to keep the production of detritus in check so that future generations are relieved from even dire living conditions.
