Describe a Dinner You Really Enjoyed - Sample Answer 1
- When it was?
- Who you were with?
I’m identified as a big-time food lover and I have a zest for sumptuous dishes and a variety of cuisines whenever and wherever possible. Although every time I have a different dish, it casts a charm on me, there was an experience that I can’t forget to this date. I went to visit my friend at his home and planned to stay for two days and it was then that I got to know the adroit culinary skills of my friend.
- What did you eat?
- And explain why you enjoyed it.
Having reached his home, we kept on promenading across the city and strolling on the streets. After getting back to his home, we were famished and extremely knackered and thought of ordering our favourite dishes. Unfortunately, the food store was closed that day and all others nearby his house were not up to the mark. Hence, he proffered his thoughts of cooking the dish himself that day, to which I acquiesced, although I had a doubt.
After 30 minutes, he brought the Kyrgyz dish that he had prepared, the aroma of which stimulated my olfactory senses. It smelled great and the colour of the dish was worth drooling for. Unexpectedly, two of our other friends joined. We had a lot of fun and we enjoyed the dish prepared by my friend along with the snacks the other two had brought along. That day is worth remembering due to the savoriness of the food and the company in which we relished it. I don’t know if that delectable dish could be made again, as my friend concurred. Strangely, even he didn’t have any idea that the dish would turn out to be so luscious and piquant with the delectable flavours.

Describe a Dinner You Really Enjoyed - Sample Answer 2
- When it was?
A dinner that I truly enjoyed happened about three months ago, when my extended family finally gathered after nearly five years of living in different cities and countries. The reunion itself felt evocative, because it brought back memories of our childhood festivals and long holiday gatherings.
- What did you eat?
We had the dinner at my grandparents’ house, and the meal was absolutely sumptuous. My aunts had meticulously prepared a variety of traditional dishes - fragrant biryani, slow-cooked mutton curry, crispy vegetable fritters, and a homemade dessert called phirni, which is my grandmother’s signature recipe. Every dish tasted incredibly authentic, almost as if time had stood still.
- Who you were with?
I was with more than twenty family members, including cousins I grew up with but hadn’t seen in years. The atmosphere was extremely convivial; everyone was laughing, catching up, and sharing stories that we hadn’t heard in ages. Even the simplest conversations felt meaningful because we had missed so many milestones in each other’s lives.
- And explain why you enjoyed it.
I enjoyed this dinner so much because it was heartwarming to feel that sense of unity again. The food was wonderful, but what made the evening truly rejuvenating was the emotional warmth of being surrounded by the people who shaped my earliest memories. It reminded me how powerful family bonds can be, even after long periods of distance.
