Sample Answer 1
- What you did
In my childhood, I tried several outdoor activities. But, of course, it is not like I had enjoyed all those outdoor activities as I was doing them for the first time or repeatedly. Nonetheless, today, I would like to talk about an outdoor activity I started to like from the very first time: fishing.
- When and where you did it
To be honest, about 20 years ago, I wouldn’t say I liked the idea of sitting on the bank of a river or lake in anticipation of some fish being kind to take my bait. I used to ponder about this outdoor activity as some “hide-and-seek game”, except it was much more complicated than that because I could see my “prey” only after catching it. Nonetheless, all that changed when I was finally convinced by one of my cousins to accompany him to do some fishing practice with him. He even concurred with me that the fish would eat my baits. So I agreed and went to an adjacent lake to catch some fish. However, before hurling my fishing wire into the water, my cousin did some tricks by attaching it to my fishing rod.
- How you felt about it later
Regardless, I started to wait, but I was growing a little restive with the waiting as I could see no indication of fish near my fishing rod. Then, all of a sudden, I noticed that my float was moving and informed my brother. My brother immediately asked me to pull the rod out of the water, and I had caught my first fish! And when we ultimately left the lake, I caught three fish! Gradually, I became elated later about that outdoor activity.
As a result, I would recommend this outdoor activity to my friends because the excitement of catching a fish is simply outstanding! Besides, this outdoor activity would also help me learn how to become patient because it takes a lot of forbearances to catch a fish. Ultimately, the fruit of patience is always precious.

- What you did
I’m going to talk about snorkelling, which is quite popular nowadays, but for some reason I have only tried once recently. You can do this sport pretty much everywhere provided there’s a body of water, preferably a beach with some beautiful submarine landscapes.
- When and where you did it
In my country the ideal place to go is ABC island where there’s gorgeous coral, and I was there for my first experience with snorkelling. If you can afford overseas travel, there’s plenty to choose from, like the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.
The equipment required for this sport is quite simple – you just need a snorkel to help you breathe underwater. Obviously it is better to wear a mask to prevent water from coming into your eyes and fins to swim faster.
- How you felt about it later
It was wonderful being underwater and looking at beautiful marine animals and plants. But I had to be very careful to avoid touching them. I also had to stay close to the shore because you know, it is quite easy to get distracted and swim to a place that is not very safe.
Vocabulary
- Snorkel: a tube that you hold in your mouth to help you breathe if you are swimming with your face underwater
Eg: My family went snorkeling in the Australian beaches. - Landscape: a large area of countryside, especially in relation to its appearance
Eg: The landscape of the amusement park is mesmerizing. - Marine: relating to or found in the sea.
Eg: Starfish is a part of the marine kingdom. - Distracted: unable to concentrate because one is preoccupied by something worrying or unpleasant.
Eg: The girl was sent out of the classroom as she got distracted during the class.
