The advent of the internet has undoubtedly led to a significant shift in the way people communicate. People would rather communicate through various technologies than engage in face-to-face interactions. In the following paragraphs, I shall discuss both the positive and negative aspects of online communication.

To begin with, technology helps to break down geographical barriers, which is one of its most significant benefits. For instance, a person in India may instantaneously contact his clients in Europe using Skype or email. As he can communicate with individuals from across the world, this could help him grow his business. Additionally, this method of communication lowers many overhead costs, including those associated with travel and setting up a meeting location.

Whereas relying too much on communication technology has drawbacks of its own. First of all, avoiding face-to-face conversation causes people to lose their personal connections. Due to their lack of social life, this might make people feel lonely and unhappy and negatively impact their mental health. Besides, when we communicate by phone or email, we are unable to confirm the physical identification of the person with whom we are corresponding. It increases the risk of fraud.

To recapitulate, even if technology has made communication more accessible and simple, there are a lot of drawbacks if it is utilized excessively. Therefore, the method of communication should be carefully chosen, taking into consideration a number of aspects, including time and distance.
