In today’s social structure, when everyone has access to the internet, a rising number of youngsters are playing computer games, and their admiration is growing all the time. In the forthcoming paragraphs, I shall discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the issue and explain why I believe in the latter.
As schooling becomes increasingly difficult for many young people, computer games help them relax and reduce stress. Computer games can transport us to alternate universes where we can escape reality. Moreover, computer games are quite complex nowadays and can help youngsters develop their thinking skills. Instructions must be comprehended, and games frequently feature complex puzzles that must be solved. Few games, such as Sudoku, can aid with brainstorming. Parents can organize small group tournaments to play multiplayer games.
However, there are other issues amalgamating with the growing popularity of computer games. Due to their attention span being totally focused on games, children’s minds would be diverted from schoolwork, perhaps negatively impacting academic achievement. In addition, if people sit in front of the computer for an extended period of time, they will become sleep-deprived and completely spent. Because the problem was so severe and the impact on schooling was so poor in South Korea, the government barred youngsters from playing video games after midnight. Also, some youngsters have difficulty distinguishing between what is genuine and what is virtual. Some say that this has resulted in an increase in criminality inspired by video games. This is not proven, but it is undeniable that games today can be very violent.
To sum up, computer games have both advantages and downsides. Therefore, parents should exercise caution and watch their children’s activities since some games may be more appropriate than others.
