Sample Essay
Recently, a debate has erupted about whether the elderly should live with their extended family or separately. While some think that living together benefits grandparents, others argue that each individual should be self-sufficient. In the following paragraphs, I shall discuss both views and provide my viewpoints.
On the other hand, those who favor the notion of living with their parents and grandparents feel emotionally invested in one another. They think that all family members should be treated equally and that they may serve as emotional pillars at times of difficulty, such as bereavement. Additionally, many people feel that older people should not be abandoned at this age because it is when they demand more care and attention. It is also regarded that those who live in extended families save a lot of money. Living can be significantly less expensive, for example, with cheaper food and electricity expenses, implying that enjoyment of life will be greater.
On the other hand, others who believe in grandparents living independently frequently argue that older people should be encouraged to be as self-sufficient as possible since it enhances their self-esteem and may protect against mental deterioration in old age. They also argue, with some justification, that many younger families now lack the dwelling space and spare time required to care for senior members effectively. Finally, many grandparents indeed prefer to see their grandkids less frequently, making these visits more distinctive and cherished for everybody involved.
To summarize, people generally believe that grandparents should live separately, with all the privileges of independence and independent space. However, it is impossible to deny that grandparents require adequate care, love, and attention at this age.
