Sample Essay 1
Many people across the globe argue that accepting harsh realities, for example, undesirable jobs or shortage of money, is the best way to go ahead in life. Still, others claim that these conditions are part and parcel of life and can be improved. I strongly agree with the latter perspective.
In some cases, people succumb to affliction and insist that bad situations should be accepted, be it an unsatisfactory profession or lack of money. These people lack the courage to change their life. They believe that good or bad situations occur as part of their fate. For instance, a person doesn’t like his job yet does not want to quit as he’s afraid of the unpredictable future. Consequently, he accepts the situation without making an effort to ameliorate it. As a matter of fact, there are some bad situations which are way beyond our control, such as a serious illness which eventually leads to death. In such cases, we need to cope with the loss rather than brooding over it.
However, a few people claim that certain situations can be refined if we make an attempt. A person can assess their current situation and change it as per their convenience. Suppose a person is unhappy with his current profession. In that case, he must look out for opportunities that will allow him to be happy and help him grow monetarily. Apart from this, the person can also learn new skills, build his resume, and get his desirable job. Thus, if a person is determined to change his lifestyle, he can definitely improve bad situations.
In conclusion, there are people who have baseless excuses to live in a state of a bad situation. But I believe that there’s always a better way to improve our negative circumstances and change our paths in order to have a good future.

Sample Essay 2
There are conflicting views about whether people should accept a bad situation or make efforts to improve it. While there are some justifications for accepting certain bad situations, making an attempt to overcome the negatives may be a better solution. This essay will discuss both sides of the argument and express my view/perspective.
On the one hand, people who insist that bad situations should be accepted tend to lack the courage to change their life. For example, many people who stick to a bad job are afraid of quitting. They do not like their job, yet they do not want to quit because they are afraid of the uncertain future. They are worried that they may have to stay jobless for a while and struggle to pay their bills before they can find employment again. Consequently, they accept the bad situation without making an effort to improve it. There are also some bad situations that are beyond our power to improve. For example, there is not much we can do to prevent a serious illness or the untimely death of a dear one. In such situations, coping with the loss or the negative situation is a better idea than brooding over it.
On the other hand, there are certain situations that can be improved if we make an effort. For example, nobody has to suffer in a bad job when better jobs are available on the market. Of course, this might require learning a new skill or acquiring a qualification, but it is worth our while. Likewise, people suffering from poor health can see some visible improvements if they adopt an exercise routine and a healthy diet. Those in toxic relationships can regain their sanity by opting to break up. Obviously, there are several situations that can be improved with a little effort. Hence, the argument that all bad situations should be accepted without complaining does not hold water.
In conclusion, this essay discussed that although people sometimes have reasonable excuses to live in a bad situation, it is beneficial to try to improve adverse circumstances. In my opinion, it is better to try to get out of the negatives.

Band 9 Sample Essay
Life is not a bed of roses for most people as they have ups and downs. When a person handles these waxes and wanes with strong willpower, it makes that individual sturdy. Despite this, many people give up on adverse situations while others deal with them and emerge a fighter. In this essay, both these attitudes will be discussed in the subsequent paragraphs, ending with my opinion.
As far as the first set of people is concerned, they feel easily dejected when faced with a challenging condition. They blame it on fate and feel that it is the repercussions of the deeds they had done in their previous lives. It is due to the fact that they are not resolute enough to face the obstacle or have become so at home even with the hardship that they become aloof. Sometimes, it is easier to put the blame on something or someone else rather than persevere to change the circumstances. For instance, in case of any health issues or accidents, many people claim that it was meant to be as they are being punished for their sins. They do not realise that it might be the result of their negligence or carelessness. In the case of jobs, these individuals grumble that they are being deprived, yet do not take the initiative to protest against it or move on to better opportunities in the fear that they will be victimized or are incapable. So, the fear of the unforeseeable always pushes them back to the hellhole they are in, and they do not take risks.
On the other hand, the second group of people are pretty daring and believe that the key to life is accepting challenges and overcoming them. They do not accredit any force of luck for their plight and work hard to overcome their adversity. They gain an understanding of their predicament and work for its betterment. This helps them to rise from their own ashes like the mythical phoenix. Various examples can be observed in history. After the First World War, Germany was rendered economically and socially incapable. Yet, in the Second World War, it became one of the most formidable opponents the world had ever seen. Similarly, in the Second World War, Japan was almost burnt to the ground, and if one looks at it today, it has become one of the world’s leading developers of technologies. Another popular example is the 16th President of the U.S.A., Abraham Lincoln. Even after being rejected multiple times during various elections, he did not forsake his dream of becoming the President and remained determined. This persistence aided him in fulfilling his goal.
Therefore, in my opinion, one should always fight back or at least do their best to overcome the quagmire. It will not only help them to develop a firmer character but also encourage them to accomplish their goal.
