Sample Essay
It is a controversial topic to teach parental skills in school. Some people opine that teaching adolescents how to be good parents in the future is a fantastic idea. I can’t agree with this view because parenting is not a skill young children need to develop and is not the kind of skill that can be taught in the classroom.
From my viewpoint, learning about parental skills at an academic level is unreasonable because teenagers are not mature enough to understand the gravity of parents’ responsibility. Moreover, if a school teaches them those skills, it burdens students’ heads and hectic schedules. Therefore, educating kids and stressing their minds about parenthood in school is unnecessary. Further, institutions should only concentrate on the academic subject rather than a parental course because students’ career depends on the theoretical knowledge they acquire in an academy. Additionally, no one can teach them how to become good parents. One can only learn by themselves when one becomes a natural parent and practices the new experience daily.
Although the ways of parenting depend on the couple or individual, good parenting requires certain skills. As for the competence that good parents should possess, patience is the first. Babies are very likely to throw tantrums, and when they do so, parents need to keep their cool and hold their ground without making the baby feel neglected or threatened. Also, parents must put their babies first, love them abundantly and guide them on the right path. Children need love, care and stability to grow up into successful adults. Hence, good parents can provide these and more to their children.
In conclusion, it is not right to make the children learn how to look after them. But, on the other hand, the adult age is the appropriate age when they can be made aware of everything required to become good parents.
