Band 8 Sample Essay - Today’s Society Provides People with Various Ways to Lose Weight
In recent years, this society has offered various ways for people to lose their weight, including special diet options and structured exercises. Some individuals argue that the real solution lies in addressing one’s unhealthy eating habits and modern-day lifestyles rather than following certain short-term weight-loss methods. I firmly agree with this particular view that sustainable weight control directly depends on long-term behavioural changes rather than temporary ways.
To begin with, poor dietary habits are an important cause of weight gain and should be tackled as a priority. Moreover, the widespread availability of fast food, processed snacks, and sugary drinks has made it viable for people to consume excessive calories with lesser nutritional value. While these kinds of crash diets may help people lose weight quickly, they rarely tell those individuals how to maintain a balanced, healthy diet. As a result, many of those dieters gain their weight back once they go back to their normal eating patterns.
Adding on, modern lifestyle contributes significantly to obesity, and this is a problem that cannot be solved by an occasional exercise routine alone. Modern technology has now reduced the need for physical movement, since many people spend long hours sitting at their work desks, relaxing in front of screens, and commuting in cars. Although gyms and their fitness programmes are helpful, they are often expensive and time-consuming, making them difficult to properly maintain. Instead of this, encouraging more active daily habits, like, cycling, using the stairs, and walking, can be more practical and sustainable ways for the majority of people.
To conclude, while planned diets and exercise plans can be useful in a short period of time, I firmly believe that addressing unhealthy food habits and sedentary lifestyles is way more effective. By focusing on certain long-term changes in eating habits and daily activities, people can achieve healthier and more sustainable personal weight management.
Band 9 Sample Essay - Today’s Society Provides People with Various Ways to Lose Weight
Nowadays, people are so occupied with their lives that they can’t find time to cook a meal for themselves, and that is why they prefer eating junk food or packaged food items. Due to such cravings, this generation is more prone to developing diseases like obesity, diabetes and heart problems. There are people who hit the gym or adopt a strict diet to lose weight. However, some people opine that everyone should address poor eating habits and unhealthy lifestyles before dedicating themselves to a strict diet or an exercise routine, and I agree with this view.
In my opinion, one needs to be aware of what they are eating and how they are managing their routine life. This knowledge is crucial to make wholesome changes to their lifestyle. For example, one needs to monitor their eating habits. Eating packaged food or frozen food is of no help, as it includes preservatives, chemicals and artificial flavours, which are not suitable for the human body. Rather than eating junk food, people should prefer cooking fresh meals with fresh ingredients in their kitchen. Eating fresh food will help them stay zestful and away from many diseases. Furthermore, they will get the required vitamins and nutrients as well.
There are various reasons why I believe that we should control our routine habits to tackle obesity. Firstly, it is crucial to attack the root cause of the problem rather than curing its effects. The weight loss programs are mainly based on controlling the aftermath of a poor lifestyle. However, if the focus is only on diet and workout and does not address its root causes, which are excess consumption of junk food, improper sleep, work anxiety, isolation, etc., this health issue would not arise. For instance, most of our ancestors have had balanced body weights because they rely more on traditional foods, physical work, and simple living. Eventually, they did not go for expensive health regimes to lose extra weight.
However, many people do not concur with the above opinion. They argue that the ideal way to lose weight is only through special diets and exercise regimes in gyms. It also cannot be denied that most people rely on junk foods like burgers and pizzas for their meals because it becomes the on-go meal for a working person. Ultimately, this leads to unnecessary weight gain. Moreover, improvement in lifestyle is also needed. Today all humans are a victim of stressful and haphazard lives. They don’t get time to eat or sleep on time or correctly. These are the root causes of such a problem, so attention should be paid to eradicating obesity.
In the end, I would pen down to conclude by saying that a strict diet and an exercise regimen are good for life. However, it is essential to make adequate changes to our eating habits and lifestyle before adopting a diet or hitting the gym.
