The average life expectancy rate has come down drastically in many countries. It is 70 in Asia and 79 in countries like the USA and Europe. So there are few older people in the world. The young population is comparatively higher. Some are of the opinion that a country can progress with this disproportionate rate of population while others argue that we need older people in equal numbers. I think that having a larger ratio of young people will definitely be advantageous.
Young people are doers. They are capable of accomplishing a given task and their productivity levels are unmatched. They are also at less risk of developing health complications. So a nation composed of healthy, actively contributing young people is sure to progress in all spheres. Young people are quick to learn and easily adapt to changing environments. They are also the resource base with which a country can attract business opportunities that are pivotal for economic growth and development. They think out of the box and don’t cling to old ideas. If properly educated and utilised, they are an asset to the nation.
As every coin has two sides, this population variation has downsides too. Young people tend to act fast. Older people think twice before they attempt to do something. Out of experience, they are wiser. Young people are prone to misuse. If not properly managed, they can ruin a nation’s progress. Having a larger proportion of young people means that more people are in the working age bracket. So the country will be pressured to create adequate job opportunities failing which their youth may tread in unwanted paths and cause harm.
In summary, having a larger proportion of youth is undoubtedly a boon. Given proper direction, they can create wonders. It is upto the country to utilise their youth to the maximum potential in order to reap benefits.

The prevalence of youngsters in the general population is quite common in some of the major republics across the world. In some countries, the better part of the populace is comprised of individuals falling in the age group of 18-25. However, there is a hesitation in the minds of people on whether to deem these statistics as a positive or a negative indicator. I believe that having a strong youth power is a necessity for the advancement of the entire nation. In the following paragraphs, I will delve deeper into the topic and list the merits and demerits of a larger young citizenry.
Firstly, we must acknowledge the fact that the youth is the driving force of any nation. The manpower of any country is greatly determined by the quality and the quality of the young adults. Since young individuals are present and employed in nearly every manner of work, the onus of carrying and uplifting the economy falls on this segment of the population to a large extent. Thus, the absence of a healthy and ambitious rising generation can gravely impact the furtherance of a community.
On the other end of the spectrum, being abundant in the number of young adults means a deficit in the older fragment of the population. Although on a surface level, this division might seem favourable to many, in reality, it creates a critical predicament for the entire state. There is no doubt to fact that the youth are the strength of any society, but without proper guidance from seniors, they are bound to remain directionless. Furthermore, the lack of life experience makes youngsters unfit for roles of authority, whereas our elders who have lived through several highs and lows are more suitable for such responsibilities.
In conclusion, I would like to say that being blessed with a community that is comprised of a strong younger generation will always be advantageous, as the future of not only a particular nation, but the entire human civilisation is in the hands of the collective youth.
