Establishing Good Relationships in The Workplace is Not Important - Sample Answer 1
The modern workplace is no longer a nine-to-five anymore. Instead, it has become a concoction of various factors which expand beyond work. It focuses on forging good relations with employees and maintaining morale. Hence, I am of the opinion that good relations are of great significance, and this essay will elucidate why.
Gone are the days where an employee is solely judged on his output. Today, the upper hierarchy looks for workers who not only work but take the initiative, fill in for leadership, rouse and rally their colleagues and establish a team. Further, good communication among colleagues also aids in fighting nervousness and stress as one gets people to rely on. All of these factors are a byproduct of good company communication, which reflects good relationships within a workplace.
Moreover, good relationships result in a direct amplification in productivity. For example, in the 1970s, computer giant HP started rolling bagels and doughnut carts within the office premises at a set time to boost employee interactions. It had a positive effect, as it was witnessed that employees who congregate get time to vent off and relax for a moment, which calms them down and boosts their ability to work. That is why establishing good relationships in the workplace is necessary.
Indeed, employees often slack off when they start chattering with their colleagues or even rush through their jobs in order to meet and catch up. But, such negatives are serially outshined by the overwhelming positives of an interactive workplace environment.
Hence, it is beneficial for the employees, hence the company, to manifest and maintain good relationships within the workplace.
Establishing Good Relationships in The Workplace is Not Important - Sample Answer 2
Some people believe that forming relationships at work is unnecessary because the main focus should be on completing tasks. I completely disagree with this view, as good workplace relationships not only improve teamwork and productivity but also create a healthier work environment.
To begin with, strong relationships among colleagues encourage collaboration and efficiency. When employees trust one another, they are more willing to share ideas, ask for help, and solve problems together. For instance, in project-based jobs like software development, communication between team members is crucial. If relationships are weak, tasks may be delayed due to misunderstandings or lack of cooperation.
Furthermore, positive workplace relationships contribute to employee well-being. People spend a large portion of their day at work, and a supportive atmosphere makes them feel valued and motivated. Studies have shown that workers with friendly colleagues experience less stress and higher job satisfaction. As a result, they are more likely to stay with the company, reducing turnover and recruitment costs.
Admittedly, the main purpose of a job is to complete professional responsibilities. However, ignoring relationships altogether can backfire, as a cold or unfriendly environment often lowers morale and reduces overall productivity.
In conclusion, while focusing on work is essential, building good relationships in the workplace is equally important. Healthy professional connections improve collaboration, motivation, and long-term success for both employees and organizations.
Establishing Good Relationships in The Workplace is Not Important - Sample Answer 3
It is sometimes argued that establishing good relationships in the workplace is not necessary because employees should mainly concentrate on their tasks. I partly agree with this view, as productivity should indeed be the priority, but building relationships can also play an important supporting role.
On the one hand, it is true that work comes first in any professional setting. Employees are hired to achieve specific goals, and excessive socialising may distract them from their responsibilities. For example, in highly competitive industries such as finance, workers who spend too much time building personal connections may risk falling behind in performance. In this sense, focusing on work should always remain the primary objective.
On the other hand, good relationships can make completing work much easier. A cooperative team atmosphere improves communication and reduces conflict. For instance, when colleagues have mutual respect, they can resolve disagreements quickly and concentrate on achieving results. Moreover, positive relationships contribute to job satisfaction, which boosts long-term motivation and productivity.
Therefore, while I agree that the central focus of any employee should be on their work duties, completely ignoring workplace relationships can be counterproductive. Both aspects should go hand in hand for overall success.
In conclusion, work should remain the top priority, but healthy relationships in the workplace play a valuable role in creating a positive and productive environment. Striking a balance between the two is the best approach.
