Sample Answer 1
- what the situation was
We often face situations where conventional thinking does not provide us with much help. Some circumstances require us to think outside the box and devise a creative solution. Creative thinking is advantageous in numerous situations where you either have to create an idea or solve a problem. An occasion where I had to use my imagination was when I participated in a logo design competition.
- Why you needed to use your imagination
The logo design competition was held among the first-year students who had to design a logo for our upcoming college festival. A majority of the students from the first-year batch registered for the competition. We had to work as teams of three in this competition, and I was part of a team that comprised two other students from my section. Since we had to create a logo that involved the elements of excellence, entrepreneurship, and diversity, we had to find a creative way to represent these elements in the logo visually. Every team member came up with different designs and ideas to make the logo more attractive and unique.
- What the difficulties were
One of the major difficulties we faced was the difference in design opinions. Since I have always liked a minimalistic design approach for visual design, I wanted a small but detailed design. However, another team member wanted the logo to be larger with straightforward design patterns. Fortunately, both of us were able to come to a common solution for the logo, and we submitted three designs as drafts for the final submission.
- And explain how you felt about it
After the competition, I felt like I had learned and developed my creative and critical thinking skills. I also learned some new concepts about designing and visual communication. The overall experience of the logo designing competition was enriching and productive, even though our final submissions for the competition’s final round were not selected.

- what the situation was
- Why you needed to use your imagination

- And explain how you felt about it
I’d like to talk about the time when I made use of imagination. I was going to the bookstore that day and accidentally ran into the book titled “Maldives Beach”. The name caught my attention as my friends told me Maldives is the finest beach they have ever seen. The book looks like other travelling books with several sections talking about the local people and some tips to travel there. The more I read, the more interesting the book was. The book describes closely how local handicrafts were made and how skillful the local was. Although there weren’t any pictures, I could imagine the lotus statues or embroideries with riot of colors which are sold at the market everyday. The book allows me to transport myself into a special realm where I feel very comfortable and relaxed. However, I wish that the book could add more colorful pictures as I had to make the best of my imagination to visualize how the beach looked like. Though the book describes about the white sand, crystal water and range of coconut trees but i found it’s still hard to imagine. If this book had more pictures, I think it would be the best-seller travelling book. Maldives beach stimulates me to go travelling, step out of my comfort zone and discover new horizons so it’s definitely the best book for me.
