I come from an Indian state named West Bengal, which lies in the eastern part of the country, contrary to its name. There are a lot of unique things or products that are found in this state. But today, I am going to talk about some sweets that are exclusive to the state.
Although I don’t have a sweet tooth, the region where I come from is famous for desserts like Lengcha. There are many more mouthwatering delights to discover after that, so it’s just the beginning. They are culinary delights if you are a chocaholic. This Indian sweet food has its roots in West Bengal. Wheat flour and cottage cheese are the main ingredients. A dough composed of flour and cheese is formed into oval-shaped balls, which are then deep-fried. Then, the fried balls are given a lengthy soak in sugar syrup. They can be served hot or cold, depending on your desire.
It is made on popular demand as people here like to have sweets after every meal. Moreover, sweets are symbolic of good news and celebration. So, it is a part of every celebration, be it a sad occasion like a funeral or a happy one like a marriage.
Lengcha, like any other sweet delicacy, is famous because it has the right combination of taste and flavour. While the sweet syrup will encourage your Dopamine flow, the deep-fried coat will melt in your mouth to give you a wholesome foodie experience.

Knowing that India has a diversified culture and tradition, every single part of the country, whether a town or a village, conveys a disparate touch. Coming to my hometown, it is idolized because of different items, right from footwear to clothes and decor items.
Tourists use several products as souvenirs and buy decor items to gift each other. In terms of clothing, one of the most popular items is Phulkari. Delineating flower craft, it is customarily done on a cloth piece that varies in material, such as georgette, silk, and more.
Not just on clothing but in my hometown, Phulkari is even done on footwear. Incorporated in different colours, it generally has a gaudy look . Sometimes, to embellish the item even more, it is integrated with small mirrors.
When adorned on a long scarf, it is known as a Phulkari Dupatta. Different colours signify different occasions. For example, for newlywed brides, red dupatta is used. Generally, it is a wide and long piece that covers the head and shoulders. If needed, it can also be gifted to somebody.
In the olden days, it was handwoven, but now it is entirely machine-made. With varying embroidery techniques, it looks even more enticing. It’s a symbol of our tradition and holds importance in our region.
Somehow, it represents our legacy and keeps the tradition alive throughout generations and cultures.
