Band 8 Sample Answer - Planting Trees is Very Important for The Environment
Planting trees plays an important role in protecting the environment and improving the general quality of life. While some individuals argue that vacant land in cities should be used for housing facilities, I firmly agree that planting trees in urban areas is a great option for long-term environmental and social benefits.
To start with, trees significantly improve environmental conditions in cities and towns. Urban areas tend to suffer from high levels of air pollution, rising temperatures, and noise, all of which adversely affect residents’ health. Trees directly help absorb carbon dioxide, release oxygen, and reduce air pollution. Adding on, green spaces lower urban heat levels and provide shade, making the side of cities more comfortable to live in. Without sufficient greenery around, cities may become overcrowded concrete spaces that can harm both physical and mental well-being of a person.
In addition to this, planting trees offers social and psychological benefits that the housing facilities alone cannot entirely provide. Parks and green areas give space to outdoor activities, promote social interaction between people, and reduce stress among city dwellers. Although housing is important, an uncontrolled construction of buildings often will lead to congestion and reduced living standards. By preserving vacant land for trees, the city planners can properly create a balanced environment that supports both human health and sustainable development.
To conclude, while the demand for housing is understandable, planting trees in vacant urban areas should be given the top priority. This is because planting trees will not only protect the environment but also enhance the overall quality of life. Therefore, I strongly believe that urban development should focus more on green spaces rather than excessive construction of buildings.

Band 9 Sample Answer - Planting Trees is Very Important for The Environment
People believe trees must be planted in areas of big cities and towns that are uninhabited. But, some people are advocating that residential complexes should be constructed there instead. In my view, planting trees in vacant areas is more crucial than building houses.
To begin with, one of the major reasons why the vacant areas in cities should be planted with trees is that, when trees are planted, the environment becomes cleaner and healthier. Additionally, including more trees in the empty regions makes them more picturesque and adds greenery to the surrounding. In turn, this will boost biodiversity by attracting birds and butterflies. Through photosynthesis, trees also contribute to the quality of the air by adding oxygen to it. As a result of breathing this non-polluted, fresh air will improve the residents’ health.
Furthermore, without tree planting, cities would become much hotter as trees help to produce rain. Therefore, it will make the climate more conducive to human life. Besides, trees contribute to better air quality by producing oxygen which helps counteract heavy pollution found in cities. By planting trees, one can also reduce noise pollution, as they act as a sound buffer. Moreover, trees are a significant part of improving wildlife habitats in cities.
However, some people argue that urban space is limited and prioritizes shelter for humans rather than planting trees. On the other hand, we should leave a green space to relax rather than build several apartments.
In conclusion, all the vacant spaces ought to be utilized for afforestation. It will assist with enhancing the region with purified air and oxygen, which ultimately provides individuals with a healthy lifestyle.
