The psychology of human beings has been taking great attention for many years. Latest studies suggest that our characteristics that we have inborn have much more impact on our personality and improvement than anything that we might come across in our life. Although a plethora of reasons might be given to justify this, personally I strongly believe that our personal experiences have a more determining role on our personality and development. In this essay, I will explain my viewpoints.

First of all, humans need interaction. Without interaction, human beings can not survive. In this way, a man has a chance to understand not only himself but also others. This process has a vital role in a man’s personality and also in personal improvement. For instance, having an anger issue might be a characteristic of a student. This student who has an anger problem can change his characteristics with the help of his teacher and friend. Therefore, it can be said that environmental factors can create more impact on someone’s personality thanks to the interactive community.

Moreover, major experiences can cause a dramatic change in someone’s characteristics. As it is well known, trauma has an enormous effect on human psychology. For instance, the characteristics of earthquake victims have changed unexpectedly after the shocking disaster. They have been suffering from anti-stress disorders which make them more introverted day by day.

However, some people assert that our characteristics are mainly composed of what we have inborn.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that our personality and development depend more on life experiences rather than genetic features which are also known as characteristics.
