The Process of Milk Production – IELTS Writing Task 1

The process diagram illustrates the key process of milk production as well as other dairy products for retail sale.

In total, there are eight important stages which begin with a herd of dairy cows grazing on grass and end with the consumers buying the dairy products at supermarkets and shops.

As mentioned above, the initial step is to let the cows graze on green pastures. Following that, the cows are taken from the pasture to a milking facility, wherein they are milked via means of an automatic milking machine twice a day. The ensuing milk is stored in massive refrigerated storage tanks. Next, the milk is regularly collected using a milk tanker and delivered to a dairy manufacturing facility, where additional processes are applied to it in order to produce various dairy products.

Subsequently, some of the milk is pasteurized and packed for delivery, while the remaining is made into cheese, cream, and butter, among other dairy products. Finally, the processed products are delivered to shops and supermarkets where they can be purchased by the general public. (177 words)

The process of producing milk begins with the cows grazing before they are milked twice a day by an automated milking machine. Then, before being delivered to the dairy, the fresh milk is held in a sizable refrigerator throughout the next stage. Every day, the procedures for gathering, storing, and transporting milk to dairy plants are repeated.
