Nowadays, going on a vacation, even more than once within the span of a single calendar year is considered fashionable and not an outlandish occurrence. The travel and tourism industry is witnessing more hustle and bustle lately than it did in the last few years. In the following paragraphs, I will discuss the reasons for this trend and what travellers stand to gain from their journeys.

To begin with, we are all aware of the fact that travel, whether it is for business, immigration or recreation, has become more convenient than ever before and people are taking full advantage of such opportunities. The idea of making arrangements for transportation and accommodation, planning and preparing a budget for the entire trip with the help of every piece of relevant information, all at the comfort of one’s home, would be an impossible feat ten years back. Now, with the use of technological advancements like smartphones and the inception of travel websites, that is not only doable but effortless at the same time. Simultaneously, as more and more countries realize the importance of tourism as a significant source of revenue for the government, the investment and development of this industry also increase, leading to a drop in overall prices and costs involved during journeys making travel more feasible and thereby more frequent.

Additionally, the daily routine that most working professionals have to endure is tedious. It can take a toll on a person’s mind and body if followed for too long without breaks. Taking a long trip with friends, family or even by oneself can prove to be a vital distraction and a means to recharge one’s energy. Secondly, travelling is educational and is imperative to exchange of values, culture and ideas. When a person travels, they get to know different things about the place’s culture, including food habits, dress, way of life, festivals, etc. It helps people from different regions discover the similarities and differences among each community while broadening our horizons. Finally, one has to acknowledge the fact that some of the best memories that an individual can make are often during such experiences.

Lastly, I would conclude by saying that as we see more improvements in the general standards of living of the people, the merits of travelling seem to be growing to make it an attractive form of leisure.
