Tourism as an industry is not only an escape from daily life, but it is also an ameliorating experience that sometimes etches memories for a lifetime. More than this, it is a direct mode of employment for thousands of people worldwide. Unfortunately, there are some pertaining problems, some that evade notice more than others. This essay will scrutinize the problems and the novel solutions concerning them.
The problems begin from overcrowding of a habitat – causing extra stress on flora and fauna – as too many people hogging one spot not only disturbs the rhythm of nature’s rejuvenation, it can also be hazardous for human life. The best example is Mt. Everest, where logjams near the summit caused by overcrowding often lead to people dying. Another issue that tourist places face is littering, as man-made waste pollutes the land and water, affecting the environment of the place.
These problems can be alleviated, though. Overcrowding can be avoided by developing similar tourist destinations, which also promotes extra employment. As for littering, the Government of India recently banned single-use plastics, which was seen as a monumental change in approach to fight pollution and preserve tourist spots.
In conclusion, tourism is something that helps humans in every imaginable sense. The idea and practice should be espoused as such that it can remain sustainable for a long time while not putting too much strain on biodiversity.
