Sample Essay
The revolutionary invention of the silicon chip has transformed almost every walk of life, including business, and consequently, more people tend to shop online nowadays. Because it is in vogue, many people believe that orthodox business will be taken over by e-commerce sooner than later. I agree with the notion that online stores are bound to have a promising future, but some physical shops will still exist and they will always remain an indispensable part of life.
On the one hand, shopping online brings consumers some impediments. Initially, since people cannot touch or see the products they want to buy in reality, it is always hard for them to examine the quality of these products. As a result, one might purchase items of poor quality. Additionally, consumers do not feel happy with the things they buy online, so they tend to abandon these products or don’t use them at all. It is a waste of money.
Moreover, buying things online often makes people confused since there are many shops on the internet. To be specific, buyers might see the same products in several shops, but the prices for these items can vary, ranging from reasonable to prohibitively expensive. Consequently, they will not know which products they should purchase.
On the other hand, I believe that shopping online brings people sundry benefits. First, shopping online allows consumers to browse for products and check prices between these online shops. In this way, people can make a better decision to buy what they like after considering prices, sizes and models. From my experience, I used to buy an elegant dress at the virtual shop, which was cheaper compared to some shops near my house.
In conclusion, though eCommerce platforms have significant merits, the chances of entirely superseding physical stores are slim. It is because they cannot fulfil people’s immediate needs, and hence people will persist to visit neighbourhood stores in the coming decades as well.
