Band 7 Sample Answer For Writing Task 1 Question – How is Rainwater Collected
Several steps needed to extract potable water from rainwater are shown in the given diagram.
It is evident that the procedure consists of five primary phases, beginning with the gathering of contaminated water from residences and concluding with the delivery of clean water to those same residences.
The first step in the procedure is to use drains to collect rainwater from rooftops. These kind of drains are installed in every home in the neighborhood. After that, the water filter is used to filter the water that has been gathered from every residence. Most of the pollutants are eliminated by the filter. After filtering, the water is gathered in a sizable holding tank.
A pipe then directs the water from the storage tank to the water treatment tank. To make the filtered water safe to drink, chemicals are added to the water treatment tank. After that, pipelines are used to deliver the drinkable water to homes so that it can be used for residential purposes.

Band 8 Sample Answer For Writing Task 1 Question – How is Rainwater Collected
The diagram explains how a settlement in Australia collects drinking water from rainfall. As you can see, five steps make up the entire process.
Initially, rainwater is gathered and stored. After that, it will be kept in a tank for chemical treatment before being readmitted to houses.
It is clearly understood that the first two pipelines that each house is connected to are those that carry drinking water and the ones that are attached to the drains of each building. The first pipeline, which has a filter halfway through, conveys the rainwater collected by the drainage system. Then, the rainwater is put into a storage tank once it is filtered.
Beside the storage container, there is another cistern that is used for chemical treatment. Next, chemicals are spilled from the small vessel on top of the larger ones, making the water safe to drink. In the end, the cleaned pipeline that supplies every home’s taps is filled with the purified liquid.

Unlock Band 9 Answer
The given illustration shows how a town in Australia gathers and treats rainwater to make drinking water.
Overall, the steps involve rainwater collected from homes that can be utilized for drinking after being chemically treated and filtered.
At the beginning of the rainy season, the roof drain collects the rainwater that eventually flows down the side of the house into the bottom drain pipe. Rainwater obtained in this manner is collected by each residence and directed to the water filter through underground drains.
Subsequently, to get rid of any contaminants, the rainwater goes through a water filter. After filtering, it travels through the pipes to a storage tank. Following that, the water then moves from storage to the water treatment facility. At this point in the process, the water is chemically treated to make it suitable for human consumption. Eventually, when the water is deemed safe for drinking, it flows via pipelines and returns to the town’s homes, where residents can utilize it for everyday needs.
