The table depicts the average length of Youtube video advertisements category-wise and the average length of time people spend watching the ads.
We can observe from the table that the public service ads have the highest average length and people’s preferences to watch YouTube ads dramatically varies based on the categories.
There are a total of ten different types of adverts on YouTube and among which the public service advertisements have a maximum length of around a minute and 7 seconds. The length of Business & Finance, Entertainment and lifestyle adverts are roughly 30-39 seconds. In comparison, the length of the travel, consumer electronics, clothing, retail, and pharmaceutical adverts are around 20 to 30 seconds.
The average length of the advertisements for all the categories is 38.1 seconds, whereas the users on average watch only 20.4 seconds of these adverts. And the average duration of all the categories of advertisements is merely 20 seconds. Few people view public service ads for more than 28.1 seconds. However, this is less than half of the total advertisement duration. They prefer to skip advertisements from other categories such as clothing, business & finance, technology.
