Describe an Activity You Do to Stay Healthy - IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer 1
- What you do?
To remain healthy and fit is every person’s greatest goal. Likewise, I used to set goals to join a gym like every other youth out there as a New Year resolution. But unfortunately, I would procrastinate and it’s like I didn’t care about it anymore.
- How often you do it?
- Where you do it?
As a techie, I used to sit for hours before my system. As a result, I developed a paunch. I didn’t notice it at first. It was during the pandemic lockdown I came to know of this. So, after discussing with my family members, I learned that a morning walk would be a better option. Therefore, along with my cousin, who also has this issue, I decided to try morning walk from the next day onwards. The next morning we began walking for a few kilometres. But as we progress with our walk each day by increasing our distance, it gradually profits us with visible results.
- And explain how you think this activity helps you stay healthy or fit.
Within a month of walking, I could reduce my belly fat to a minimum. Now I think, if there is a mind to do a certain task and we ready our mind for it, we can achieve it. Now I am exercising regularly and I am no longer concerned about my health issues because I believe it is the mind which needs to be trained and the body will follow it.
Describe an Activity You Do to Stay Healthy - IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer 2
- What you do?
Everyone aspires to stay healthy and live a healthy lifestyle as it has many benefits not only for the body but for the mind too. Living a healthy lifestyle prevents long-term illnesses and helps human beings steer clear of diseases.
- How often you do it?
- Where you do it?
I’ve been caught up with so much since I started working as a social media manager that I rarely have time for myself. However, I make it a point to set aside an hour or two in the morning for my yoga and meditation. Yoga has helped me grow so much physically, mentally, and spiritually. I started practicing yoga a couple of years back. Although it was extremely challenging at first, I pursued it. Unfortunately, yoga seemed to be more demanding than it appeared.
- And explain how you think this activity helps you stay healthy or fit.
But I didn’t lose my dedication; I set daily challenges to track my progress, and completing them gave me a sense of accomplishment. Since then, I have been consistently practicing yoga daily in my backyard as soon as I wake up in the morning. Honestly, Yoga has helped me keep my mental and physical health intact. I incorporate yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises to relieve my daily stress and improve my mental well-being. Apart from that, Yoga has helped me stay in shape by burning my calories, enhancing my flexibility and suppleness, toning and strengthening my body muscles.

Describe an Activity You Do to Stay Healthy - IELTS Cue Card Sample Answer 3
-
What you do?
To be honest, I used to think that meditation is not my cup of tea until I tried it out when my mother insisted. It is a mindfulness technique that allows me to calm my thoughts, reduce stress, and enhance my overall well-being.
-
How often you do it?
I practice meditation every morning for about 15 to 20 minutes. It has become an essential part of my daily routine, just like brushing my teeth or having breakfast. I sit in a quiet place, close my eyes, and focus on my breathing. Usually, I start by taking slow, deep breaths and gradually shift my attention to my thoughts, letting them pass without judgment. Sometimes, I use guided meditation apps or listen to soothing music to help me concentrate better. If I have a particularly stressful day, I also meditate for a few minutes in the evening to relax my mind before sleeping.
-
Where you do it?
I usually meditate in my bedroom or on my balcony, where I can sit comfortably without distractions. On weekends, I prefer meditating in a nearby park, as the sound of birds chirping and the fresh air create a soothing atmosphere that enhances the experience.
-
And explain how you think this activity helps you stay healthy or fit.
Honestly, after I tried it for around two months, it had a profound impact on my overall health. First and foremost, it helps me manage stress and anxiety. Whenever I feel overwhelmed with work or personal issues, it allows me to clear my mind and regain focus. It has also improved my emotional stability, making me more patient and understanding in difficult situations. Besides that, it has helped in improving sleep quality, and boosting the immune system. I have noticed that since I started meditating, I experience fewer headaches and body aches, and I feel more energetic throughout the day. Moreover, at office hours, I can concentrate more and stay fully present in the moment, which has enhanced my productivity and creativity in daily tasks. The best part is it does not require any special equipment, membership or excessive time commitment, but provides the best results.
